Iran loses to China in FIBA Asia Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national basketball team was defeated against host China in the second day of the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup.

On Saturday, reigning champion Iran lost to China 64-51 in Pool A at the Wuhan Gymnasium in Wuhan, China.

Former Memphis Grizzlies center Hamed Haddadi scored 15 points for Iran and Shang Gao of China was the best scorer with 13 points.

Iran, who defeated Japan 66-56 in the first day of the competitions, will play Indonesia on Sunday.

The FIBA Asia Cup, between 2004 and 2010 known as the FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup, is a basketball tournament which takes place every two years between teams of the continent.

The 5th edition of the competitions has started on July 11 in Wuhan, Hubei, China and will finish on July 19.

The winner of this tournament will automatically qualify for the FIBA Asia Championship in 2015.
