TEHRAN August 9 (Shana)--Arak Oil Refinery has managed to avoid the production of 700 tons a day of sulfur by boosting the quality of its products, the governor of Markazi province where the refinery is located said.
Mohammad-Hossein Moqimi said the reduction in sulfur production has been within the framework of plans for reducing air pollution.
The refinery was launched in 1993 with the nominal processing capacity of 150,000 b/d.
The development plan of the refinery aims at increasing its processing capacity from 170 to 250 thousand barrels per day, rising gasoline production, reducing fuel oil production and polluter materials and to produce derivatives compatible with 2005 European standards.
