TEHRAN Oct 12 (Shana)--More than 14 million liters of wastewater was collected and removed from oil products storage tanks over the past Iranian calendar year to March 20 2014.
Head of the environmental protection department at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Fatemeh Kouhi made the remarks, adding separating wastewater is carried out with the goal of protecting environment and increasing durability of industrial installations.
She added currently the company keeps 5.3 million liters of wastewater in isolation in separator pools in order to prevent them from entering into environment.
According to the expert, setting up oil-water separator pools is one of the top priorities of NIOPDC in management of wastewaters stating last year the company spent more than 18 billion rials in construction of the pools.
Management of industrial wastewater including residue, and dredging storage tanks are among the other activities of NIOPDC to protect environment, she said.
