Brunei King calls for enhanced ties with Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Brunei King Hassanal Bolkiah in a message to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani urged further consolidation of relations and cooperation with Iran.

In his message, Bolkiah congratulated President Rouhani on the anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and asked for the further expansion of all-out relations between the two nations.


He also wished prosperity for the Islamic Republic and good health and happiness for Rouhani.


Bolkiah expressed the hope that the Iranian nation would witness further progress and welfare.


Also in a separate message to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Bolkiah felicitated the auspicious occasion to the Iranian government and nation.


He also stressed the need for the promotion of the friendly ties and mutual cooperation among all Muslim states.


The Iranian officials have always underscored the country's enthusiasm for the further expansion of ties with members of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO), including Brunei.


Last month Zarif and outgoing Brunei Ambassador to Iran Pengiran Sahari, in a meeting in Tehran in 2013, underlined the need for the further expansion of the relations between the two countries.


During the meeting in the Iranian capital, Zarif pointed to the good relations and abundant commonalities between the two countries, and expressed the hope that these relations would further expand at bilateral and multilateral levels within the framework of active regional organizations of the two regions.


The Brunei ambassador, for his part, thanked the Iranian foreign minister for his supports and good interaction, and expressed the hope that the relations between Iran and Brunei would further expand in the future, specially in economic and trade fields.
