TEHRAN June 23(Shana)--Methanol production at Phanavaran petrochemical Co. hit a new record high last year going beyond its nameplate production capacity of one million tons per year.

Managing director of Phanavaran Petrochemical Co. Ali Nazarpour made the remarks, adding the company is the second largest producer of methanol in the country, sixth largest in the Middle East and ranks 18th in the world.

Phanavaran petrochemical company comprises three units: methanol, monoxide carbon and acid acetic with production capacity of one million tons, 140 thousand tons and 150 thousand tons per year respectively.

Nazarpour said that the company succeeded in producing 1.731 million tons of methanol last Iranian calendar year to March 2015.
The company was established in 2004.
