21 Jul 2015 - 12:41

Almost 60 percent of Americans back the Iran nuclear agreement, but remains skeptical whether it will deliver the desired results for which it was reached, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll released on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The poll found that only 35 percent of Americans are confident the nuclear agreement will prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
“Americans by a broad 19-point margin [56 to 37 percent] support the nuclear deal with Iran announced last week, even as two-thirds… express skepticism it’ll work,” the poll results said.

Earlier on Monday, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution concerning the nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries comprising of the United States, Russia, China, France and the United States plus Germany.

President Barack Obama said the UN Security Council’s unanimous approval of the resolution shows the nuclear agreement is the best way to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
