Tehran, Aug 31, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani urged unified campaign against terrorism and said anti-terrorism moves will result in nothing as long as terrorists are categorized as good and bad ones.
He made the remarks here Monday while addressing the opening of an international congress to honor the victims of terrorism in Iran.
He stressed that a single standard has to be used by all in confronting terrorist groups.
He believed terrorism will go on to live as long as it is used as an instrument in the hands of the powerful.
He further highlighted the need for a firm and strong will to fight terrorism.
The President said terrorists are after intimidating people and creating fright and deem peace, interaction and negotiations as acts of treason as they are adovacates of violence and extremism who see things as just black and white.
He further pointed to Iran as a big victim of improper interventions of a big world powers specially the US who launced terrorism and war against the nation and even targeted it with mass killing weapons during war years.
Rouhani said some countries just pretend to be fighting terrorism while the fact is that the number of terrirosm victims has increased largely since 2003 when Iraq went under occupation resulting in expansion of terrorism throughout the region.
How could the world accept that countries like US or some European states which boast of fighting terrorism let famous terrorists who are guilty of massacring thousands inside Iran have free activities there, the President said.
At certain times, President Rouhani stressed, a country may make use of a terrorist group to serve its own interests but it has to be aware that that it would soon fall victim to this very group.
