Tehran, Nov 4, IRNA Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Wednesday that the situation in Syria seems to be better than before and it is even predicted to become better.
Larijani was speaking during a meeting in Tehran with Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.
During the meeting, the Syrian official described the recent meeting in Moscow between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin as historic.
Mekdad said that the meeting was of special significance especially as it came amid Russia's military action against terrorist groups in Syria.
Noting that the so-called war against terrorism by the US and its allies in Syria is actually aimed at damaging the Syrian government, not the terrorist groups, Mekdad said that instead of trying to solve five years of conflict, the US was after destroying Syria.
Referring to Syria's respect for remarks made by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mekdad said that the redlines Ayatollah Khamenei set about the Syrian crisis in his recent remarks is comformity with the beliefs of the Syrian government and nation.
Underlining the significance of the next round of Syrian peace talks due to be held in Vienna, he once again appreciated the Iranian support for the Syrian nation.
