Istanbul, Jan 10, IRNA Turkish Foreign Ministry on Sunday denied reports by certain Turkish media that Ankara planned to introduce visa requirements for citizens of 89 countries, including Iranian and Russian nationals visiting the country.
Certain sections of Turkish media, including Milliyet and Hurriyet, claimed that Turkey will enforce visa requirements for citizens of 89 countries, including Iran, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Lebanon and Tajikistan as of June per an agreement reached with the European Union.
The Turkish FM said the report concerning new terms and conditions for granting visa is fully baseless and false.
Turkey has become candidate for membership in the European Union and the convergence process is going on. Experts are optimistic that within at least next 10 years, Turkey's EU membership will be complete.
