Tehran, March 15, IRNA Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said on Tuesday that Syria believes that relations with Iran are beyond economic, political, social and cultural ties, rather they enjoy 'decisive relations'.
Mekdad made the remarks in a meeting with Ali-Akbar Velayati, the head of the Center for Strategic Studies of Iran's Expediency Council.
'Mr. Velayati is a symbol of victory and resistance for us and is among those who want Syria remain stronger against terrorists,' Mekdad said.
He called on the Iranian official to convey the greetings of President Bashar Assad to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
'If Iran had not stood by Syria, we would have suffered great losses and I believe in this solidarity which should be protected by every means.'
