Iran FM advises G5+1 to remain committed to JCPOA implmentation

Tehran, April 30, IRNA - Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran has fully carried out its duties in dealing with JCPOA and advised the G5+1 to remain committed to the implementation of JCPOA.

Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Belgium Senate Speaker Christine Defraigne in Tehran on Saturday.
In the meeting, the two sides discusse expansion of mutual relations and cooperation as well as regional developments.
Presence of the Belgium parliamentary delegation in Iran plays a very significant role in broadening mutual relations and truly defines the status of both sides' parliaments in endorsing legislations in line with both sides' policies.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has fully carried out its duties in dealing with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and G5+1 is expected to remain committed to carry out their responsibility accordingly, Zarif said.
Examining the criminal acts of terrorist groups makes it clear that all of them are inspired from one source and to deal with such phenomenon requires change of approach in dealing with those backing terrorism and extremism, Zarif said.
It is expected that the European partners would take tangible measures to activate banking and financial procedures to this end, he said.
On Syria developments, all are now witnessing that terrorist groups such as al-Nusra and Daesh taking advantage of financial and military support blatantly violate ceasefire, he said.
It is the Syrian people that should have the final say in resolving the issue through votes but regretfully some are trying to create obstacles by leaving the negotiation table and making excuses, Zarif said.
Syrian crisis should be resolved through political means, he said adding that the experiences gained in dealing with developments in Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen proved such a claim, Zarif said.
It is the people that should decide their own fate, he underlined.
Zarif also replied to all questions posed by the Belgium delegation concerning ways of resolving the Syrian crisis and to deal with terrorism in Europe and the region.
Defraigne, for her part, welcomed expansion of political, economic and parliamentary relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The Islamic Republic of Iran as a major player in the region has always played a significant role in restoring peace and stability to the region, she said.
She called for continued exchange of views and broadening of relations and cooperation between Iran and Belgium at all levels.
