Pakistani official says all options including Iran open

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development and Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Ahsan Iqbal has said overcoming energy crisis is top most priority of the government. He was talking to journalist after assuming the charge of his ministry here on Saturday.
He said all local resources would be exploited to fulfil energy needs of the country and foreign options including Iran would be brought into the use.

Ahsan Iqbal said the government would not tolerate corruption in any case and in this regard the chiefs of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other anti-corruption departments would be appointed after consultation with all political parties. He said the non-completion of development projects caused loss of billion of rupees to the national exchequer. Hunt for talented minds would be carried out throughout the world and they would be brought to the country on merit to ensure development of Pakistan, he added.

Ahsan said officers of Planning Commission would present their report in accordance with the manifesto of the PML-N. The heads of every department would have to write a research paper at least in six months. The ministry would give away a prize for the best research paper. He said if corruption might be eradicated from Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and its funds could be enhanced, then the programme might be given national identity.
