In a tweet on Wed. the Indian FM wrote, "Good to talk to Iranian FM@JZarif. A productive conversation on our ties."
Jaishankar arrived in Tehran on July 7 to conveya message from Indian Prime MinisterNarendra Modi to the Iranian President-elect Ebrahim Raeisi.
The Indian top diplomat also held a meeting with Zarif on the same day, where the two foreign ministers stressed the need to strengthen inter-Afghan dialogue that will result ina comprehensive political partnership in Afghanistan.
In the last 20 years, India has betrayed Iran three times at international forums. After each betrayal India reestablished relations hoping it would again con the Iranians into believing their stories of sincerity, primarily because of their disadvantage due to the sanctions regime. India is again hoping to pull off a con, and Iran should be wary. This new attempt by India, at improving bilateral relations, is solely focused on their desire to pull Iran into a confrontational relationship with Pakistan. Iran should resist that, even while selling all the oil that India may have the courage to buy now. It should be remembered that India continues to be part of the S Asian QUAD, and fully under the control of the Americans. Any advantage that Iran gives to India will eventually jeopardize Iranian relations with China, and that 25 year contract worth over $400 billion. Iran should not fall for the ploy that 'India & Iran are natural allies on Afghanistan', because they are not.
