Iranian karate practitioners have shown great punching, knee strikes as well as open-hand techniques at the second edition of Asian Para-Karate Championships, and received five medals at the tournament to win the crown.

The Iranian athletes finished first and won the team title, having snatched four gold medals through Masoumeh Iji, Rahim Golmohammadi, Abolfazl Chehrehqani and Farzad Safari.

Hafez Hafezikia could earn a bronze medal for the Islamic Republic as well.

Safari, in a gesture of altruism and sport spirit, raised his Saudi opponent’s hand after winning the gold, and hugged him. His move drew the admiration of spectators and officials.
