Iran karatekas capture title at 2023 Asian Para-Karate Championships
Iranian karate practitioners have shown great punching,knee strikes as well as open-hand techniquesat the second edition of Asian Para-Karate Championships, and received five medals at the tournament to win the crown.

The Iranian athletes finished first and won the team title, having snatched four gold medals through Masoumeh Iji, Rahim Golmohammadi, Abolfazl Chehrehqani and Farzad Safari.

Hafez Hafezikia could earn a bronze medal for the Islamic Republic as well.

Safari, in a gesture of altruism and sport spirit, raised his Saudi opponents hand after winning the gold, and hugged him. His move drew the admiration of spectators and officials.

Iranians were followed by representatives from Kazakhstan, who could scoop two gold medals and as many silvers to claim the second spot.

Karate practitioners from Saudi Arabia sat in thethird place with one gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

The second edition of Asian Para-Karate Championship and the 19th edition of Asian Senior Karate Championships kicked off at the Melaka International Trade Center in Melaka, Malaysia on July 21, and will conclude on July 23, 2023.

A total of 388 karate practitioners from 32 countries, including India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and Thailand, are competing at the three-day tournament.
