The Iran Project - A large-scale joint electronic warfare exercise involving multiple units of the Iranian Army started on Friday, showcasing the country's improved capabilities in this field due to domestically developed equipment.
Dubbed Separ-e Hafezan-e Velayat 1402 (Shield of Velayat's Guardians 1402), the drill aims to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of various fixed, mobile, ground-based, and airborne electronic warfare systems.
The Army's Ground Force, Air Force, Navy, and Air Defense units are participating in the exercise, which is taking place in central areas of the country.
The Army announced that successful tactics and operations have been executed during the drill, including identifying radio and data link communications, conducting group attack operations using micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) against designated targets, protecting radars through electronic operations, and disrupting and deceiving enemy radar systems using ground-based electronic operations.
Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the Deputy Chief of Iran's Army for Coordination, stated on Thursday that the exercise showcases various types of indigenous electronic warfare systems, such as radars, drones, cyber and aerospace systems, manned and unmanned fighter jets, micro aerial vehicles, as well as fixed, mobile, land- and air-based systems.
He emphasized the importance of electronic warfare in modern and future conflicts and highlighted the Iranian Army's focus on developing and training its human and technological resources in this field over the years.
He further noted that Iran has made significant progress in designing and manufacturing its own electronic warfare equipment using its specialized knowledge, technical expertise, and internal capabilities.
Iran has made impressive advancements in producing a wide range of domestic equipment, thanks to the expertise and engineering skills of its professionals.
As a result, the armed forces have achieved self-sufficiency in this area. Iranian officials have made it clear that they will continue to enhance their defense capabilities, including their missile power, emphasizing that these measures are solely for defensive purposes and that the country's defense capabilities will never be subject to negotiation.
