Politician hails Iraqi expats high voting turnout in Tehran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) Representative of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) hailed the high turnout of Iraqis living in Iran in the parliamentary elections.

Majed Ghamas, ISCIs envoy in Iran, told the Tasnim News Agency that Iraqi voters residing in Iran have shown high turnout in the elections.

He noted that Iraqi expatriates have lined up outside the polling stations set up by the Iraqi embassy in Tehran.

Voting for Iraqis living abroad in the parliamentary elections kicked off on Sunday.

During the two-day process, eligible voters will only need to provide proof of citizenship to cast ballots in 20 Iraqi embassies and consulates in the Middle East, Europe and North America.

Local voting in Iraqs parliamentary polls is scheduled for Wednesday.

Ghamas said the elections are being held at a very sensitive and significant juncture and will determine the future of Iraq.

He underlined the need for Iraqis to vote for "the most eligible candidates who can shoulder the great responsibility" in the future parliament.

ISCIs envoy further praised the Islamic Republic of Irans cooperation with Iraq in holding the polls, stressing that Iran has always been the main supporter of the Iraqi nation.
