TEHRAN (FNA)- Somebody should tell US Republican Senator Tom Cotton that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has served his military service in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) which is known to be the US Number one enemy throughout the world.

If Zarif stands firmly in the nuclear negotiations with the western powers, it is due to his confidence and faith that the Iranian Armed Forces will not allow any country to give a dirty look to Iran.

Hence, what Cotton wrote on his Twitter account addressing Zarif: "I understand if you decline @JZarif after all, in your 20s, you hid in US during Iran-Iraq war while peasants & kids were marched to die", is not true.

The freshman Republican senator from Arkansas was responding to Zarif's recent comments on the possible nuclear deal between Iran and the western power, including the US.

"A United Nations resolution will provide sanctions relief to Iran after negotiators reach an agreement in June, whether Senator Cotton likes it or not," Zarif

Although internal disputes may erupt among factions loyal to the Islamic establishment and Islamic Revolution on different domestic and foreign policies, they are united against the foreigners, specially against those that are rude and show a bullying attitude.

Cotton has no right to make insulting remarks against the Iranian foreign minister or any other Iranian diplomat.

Cotton's fiery remarks came up after Zarif in a Q&A session at New York University referred to a letter drafted by congressman Cotton and signed by 46 peers in which both Iran and President Barack Obama were warned against reaching a nuclear deal.

Mr. Cotton knows about which war he was talking; for his further information we should remind that the Iranian youth stood up to the Baathist regime of Saddam Hussein empty-handed while Washington and its allies had fully armed Saddam's army.

Has Cotton forgotten that in the final days of Iran-Iraq war, the US officially entered war with Iran in the Persian Gulf and hit Iran's oil platforms?

Moreover, there has been no hiding at all; Zarif at that time was defending the country's interests in another front at the order of senior Iranian officials as the war was not only going on in Khuzestan province and along Iran's Western borders; it was going on in all parts of the world and Zarif was fighting in the international front.

Mr. Cotton should not forget that Zarif served at the IRGC which is considered the US arch foe; the same IRGC that is the vanguard of Islamic resistance and has targeted the interests of the US and Israel in the region.

Cotton in his Twitter account called for a debate on the US Constitution, a day after the Arkansas Republican proposed that the two meet in Washington to debate.

In response to Cotton's impolite tone, one should say that there is no place for debate on a constitution which allows the occupation of another country like Iraq without the permission or even consent of the international community.

Tom Cotton and his friends should come to know that it is the entire Iran that is standing against their excessive demands, that is, all the different Iranian political factions and not just Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Zarif in a reply to Cotton's less-than-polite remarks who had called him coward said, diplomacy does not match acts of bullying.

�Serious diplomacy, not match of personal smear, is what we need,� Zarif wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday.

Ever since international negotiators announced a framework nuclear agreement earlier this month, the Senate�s current uber-hawk, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, has been waging a very public campaign to kill the deal.

After orchestrating a public letter, signed by 47 senators, to the leaders of Iran arguing that any sanctions relief would have to be approved by the US Congress, Cotton has emerged as the most prominent hard-line voice agitating against a nuclear deal with Tehran.

"And now the world can very readily and clearly see who is throwing his wrench to shake up the path to a deal and de-escalation, the US or Iran," commentator Seyed Mostafa Khoshcheshm said.

"Let the world see who is responsible for global recession risen from the threat of war and escalation," he continued, and added, "Cotton, like his master Netanyahu, shows the world who is the troublesome party and who is not able to present a controlled policy and a single stance; Iran or the US."

"Who is playing around, who has tentative stances and capricious views, who lacks the authority when the seven nations sit to the negotiating table, and thus, who is to blame if the nuclear talks fail to end in a deal, and who can't be trusted with his promises and international undertakings if there is one, Iran or the US," he concluded.
