Another Israeli war on Gaza likely, US analyst warns

Tasnim A senior political analyst from the US state of Illinois warned there may be another Israeli war on the Gaza Strip to put an end to Palestinians weekly protests and said the Tel Aviv regime is using whatever pretext to unjustifiably justify naked aggression.

I fear another Israeli war on Gaza is coming, Netanyahu using whatever pretext hell choose to unjustifiably justify naked aggression - and get away with it because the world community wont hold him accountable, Chicago-based Stephen Lendman told Tasnim in an interview.

Another war may not be imminent, but likely will come at a time and for a reason Israel chooses - the US and NATO to fully support it, he added.

Stephen Lendman is a writer, syndicated columnist, activist, News TV personality, and radio show host. He currently writes for MoneyNewsNow.com and VeteransToday.com and hosts, since 2007, a progressive radio show at The Progressive Radio News Hour on The Progressive Radio Network.

The following is the full text of the interview:

Tasnim: Israeli soldiers shot and wounded 130 Palestinians during protests near the Gaza Strip border on Friday, according to the enclaves Health Ministry. Since March 30, Israeli forces have killed about 205 Palestinians during the weekly protests dubbed the Great March of Return along the Gaza border. Most of the dead and the thousands wounded were unarmed civilians against whom Israel was using excessive force. What is your opinion about the developments and the Israeli regimes crimes?

Lendman: Ive written about most of the 30 Great March of Return protests since March 30. As you said, demonstrators were unarmed threatening no one. Israeli snipers used live fire, toxic tear gas, and other repressive tactics, along with several terror-bombings of Gazan sites.

Im appalled that over 200 Gazan civilians were killed, more than 22,000 injured, many seriously, including women, children, paramedics and journalists.

Israel gets away with high crimes of war and against humanity because of full US support and encouragement under Republicans and undemocratic Dems.

Without US support, it could never get away with its high crimes, always committed unaccountably - things worst of all for Palestinians under Trump.

Hes contemptuous of their rights, contemptuous of peace, contemptuous of ordinary Americans. He serves privileged ones exclusively, no others.

Unless the world community breaks with the US on Palestine and other key geopolitical issues, notably US wars of aggression in multiple theaters, the horrors wont end.

Tasnim: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday warned Hamas that the Israeli military is edging closer to yet another full-blown military operation against the Gaza Strip to put an end to the Hamas-organized protests on the Gaza border. Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Tuesday that the Great March of Return protests cannot be allowed to go on, urging the Israeli cabinet to back tougher measures. In response, the chamber of Joint Operations of Palestinian Groups reaffirmed commitment to the fight against Israeli occupation and to supporting the protests. Do not you think another all-out war between Hamas and Israel is imminent?

Lendman: I fear another Israeli war on Gaza is coming, Netanyahu using whatever pretext hell choose to unjustifiably justify naked aggression - and get away with it because the world community wont hold him accountable.

Another war may not be imminent, but likely will come at a time and for a reason Israel chooses - the US and NATO to fully support it.

Tasnim: Israel has rejected international calls for probes into recent deaths and insisted that its open-fire rules for Gaza will not change. Some Western states, particularly the US and Britain, who call themselves champions of human rights, have supported the Tel Aviv regimes crimes against Palestinians. The UN has also failed to restore the rights of the people. What is your take on that?

Lendman: The US, EU/NATO, most Arab countries, and the UN are dismissive of Palestinian rights. Why Israel can do what it pleases with impunity?
