The injured in US drone attacks ignored

In addition to conflicting reports about the death toll in US drone strikes in Pakistan, those injured and affected by the attacks are totally ignored, says an analyst.
Another aspect to it and thats those who are injured. In Peshawar,.there arescores of people who are drone strike victims, who are survivors who are not being counted at all. While their lives are totally sort of destroyed, they have lost their limb, they have disabilities, and they have scars. Navid Ahmed, an investigative journalist and academic in Islamabad tells Press TV.

This is all something that has not been recounted and on top of it all we surely dont know what exactly the death toll is and how many of them are those who should not have been killed or affected by this, he added.

In the latest drone attack in Pakistan last week, three people lost their lives but there were no reports of injuries.

In the first such strike this month, unmanned US aircraft fired four missiles at a house in the Sarai Darpa Khel area of North Waziristan on July 3, killing 17 people.

The United States says the CIA-run drone strikes primarily kill Taliban militants who threaten the US-led international forces in neighboring Afghanistan, although casualty figures show that Pakistani civilians are often the victims of the attacks.

In September 2012, a report by the Stanford Law School and the New York University School of Law gave an alarming account of the effect that assassination drone strikes have on ordinary people in Pakistans tribal areas.

The number of high-level targets killed as a percentage of total casualties is extremely low -- estimated at just 2 percent, the report noted.
