US seeks pro-West puppet government in Iran: Analyst

A political analyst has cast doubt on US motives in nuclear negotiations between Iran and six world powers, saying the US ultimately seeks a puppet government in Iran.
One monkey wrench after another is thrown against Iran. I think its a destabilization issue; I think the idea is the same as Ive said so many times, that Washington simply does not tolerate sovereign independent governments, Stephen Lendman, author and radio host, told Press TV.
It wants pro-Western puppet governments replacing them and I think thats the fundamental issue with Iran, he added.
He further challenged the Western nuclear claims against Iran, saying there is not a shred of evidence to suggest that the countrys nuclear activities are anything but peaceful.

He noted that the civilian nature of Irans nuclear program is well known in the US, Israel and European countries, adding, And yet the destabilization program, the anti-Iranian hostility persists without end.

The commentator pointed to Washingtons claims that Irans missile program would be included ina final nuclear deal with Tehran, saying the US is pursuing its own interests by using Irans nuclear program as an excuse.

Irans missile program has nothing to do with nuclear power, Lendman said, referring to comments made by US Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Shermanbefore US Senators last month.
I dont know how anybody can sit down with America and negotiate because America does not negotiate. America demands. And if America gets everything it wants, it will just keep throwing more things on, more things on, more demands, the analyst said.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on February 17 that he is not optimistic about Irans nuclear negotiations with the six countries but noted that he is not opposed to the talks either.

The perception of some officials of the former administration and also the present administration is that if we negotiate with the US on the nuclear issue, the problem will be solved. Due to their insistence on negotiations over the nuclear issue, I said Im not opposed either, but at that time I said that Im not optimistic, the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the nuclear issue is a pretext, adding that if the nuclear issue is resolved according to Washingtons wishes, the Americans will find new pretexts.
