Iran v Nigeria World Cup preview

It will take a minor miracle for either Iran or Nigeria to qualify for the knockout stages, but this is the World Cup and anything can happen.
Iran and Nigeria join Argentina and Bosnia-Herzegovina in Group F and it is expected that the latter two will do enough to advance.

This will be Irans fourth World Cup outing and they have yet to qualify from the group stages with their last appearance being in 2006 in Germany.

Their recent international form has seen them win just one of their last five matches with three ending in draws.

They come into this World Cup encounter on the back of a 2-0 victory against Trinidad and Tobago at the Estadio Joaquim Americo Guimaraes.

Nigeria, on the other hand, are competing in their fifth World Cup with their best showing being a place in the round of 16 in both 1994 and 1998.

This will be their second World Cup on the bounce following qualification to South Africa but they failed to make it out of the group something they will want to avoid this time around.

The Super Eagles have won just one of their last five matches and their final World Cup warm-up game saw them lose 2-1 against America in Florida last weekend.
