A senior Hamas official says the Palestinian resistance movement will retaliate against any Israeli offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip.
Speaking on Tuesday during a memorial ceremony for the martyrs of the Hamas military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Mahmoud al-Zahar said that the resistance movement is capable of confronting any Israeli attack on Gaza.
The comments came on the same day that Israel launched seven separate airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip.
Addressing a rally in Gaza on Wednesday, Ahmad Bahr, the deputy head of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), also emphasized that the air raids by the Israeli forces reflected confusion among the regimes officials.
The Israeli military frequently targets Palestinians, particularly along the border with the blockaded Gaza enclave.
The latest attacks by the Israeli regime against Palestinians came after three young Israeli settlers allegedly went missing in the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron) on June 12.
Tel Aviv accuses the Palestinian resistance movement of kidnapping the three Israelis; Hamas rejects the claim, saying that the Israeli regime seeks to sabotage the recent reconciliation accord reached between the movement and Fatah, which led to the formation of the Palestinian national unity government earlier this month.
