
Shahrokh Khosravani said the euro-4 gasoline imports are in line with the governments order to petrochemical plants to stop producing gasoline which is reported to have been carcinogenic.
Iran started importing euro-4 gasoline less than a month ago, the official said.
Ninety percent of cars manufactured in Iran conform with euro-4 standards, the secretary of Association of Iranian Car Manufacturers said recently.
Ahmad Nematbakhsh said Iranian carmakers are currently supplying energy-efficient vehicles on the market.
He said that the euro-4 standards incorporated into car parts reduce fuel consumption and help safeguard the environment.
Nematbakhsh said Peugeot 206, Samand, L-90 and Tiba are among cars meeting euro-4 standards.
Iran is working for the distribution of euro-4 grade gasoline across the country in order to stop petrochemical plants gasoline production.
