PESHAWAR: Governor General Fars province of Iran Hussein Sadek Abedien on Sunday said that Pakistan and Iran were enjoying friendly and brotherly relations based on fraternity, Islamic traditions and culture that needed further straightening in the light of present regional situation.
Addressing a gathering arranged by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) at the Civil Secretariat, he said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Iran through bilateral cooperation in education, health, banking, agriculture, industries, oil and gas and livestock sectors could move forward, which yield positive results for both the neighbouring countries.
Minister for Information and Transport Mian Iftikhar Hussain, KPCCI President Dr Yousaf Sarwar, Senator Ilyas Bilour, members of Iran delegation, representatives of chambers and officers of the concerned departments also attended the meeting.
Governor General Fars Hussein Sadek termed the visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa very useful and said that Iran delegates comprising members related to various sectors and KPCCI members should discuss matters of mutual interests with each other so that discussions could move ahead towards reality.
He said he would request the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to start flights and banking services between Iran and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to facilitate the people of both the regions.
Mehrzad Kherad, DG Jehad Agriculture Organisation, Dr Muhammad Hadi Imanieh, Chancellor Sheraz University of Medical Science and Health Services and Peredioun Forghani President Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture of Shiraz while speaking onthe occasion underlined the need for cooperation in health sector, exchange of knowledge in agriculture, livestock, fisheries and power generation sectors.
They maintained that Fars and Shiraz provinces of Iran had great potential in various for investment and trade for the people of this province.Later, KPCCI representatives including Senator Ilyas Bilour and Ghulam Sarwar Mohmand asked the Iranian investors to invest in the proposed oil refinery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile, Governor Syed Masood Kausar hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting Governor General of Fars province of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hussain Sadeq Abidien at the Governors House, Peshawar on Sunday evening who is heading a 25 member delegation and is on tour of the province for the last two days.
The ceremony was also attended by leading political figures including heads of some of the political parties, industrialists, and educationists.Amongst them were Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti, senior ministers Rahimdad Khan and Bashir Bilour; provincial ministers, some of the parliamentarians including the senators and MNAs from Fata and prominent citizens of the provincial metropolitan.
Hussain Sadeq Abidien, who is also accompanied by his Deputy Governor General Ahmad Ali Afkari and representatives from industrial, education, power generation and trade and commerce sectors, called on the governor at the Governors House and discussed matters of mutual interest with special reference to the scope for promotion of trade and business activities in this province.
