Iran's Army university changing syllabus based on regional developments

TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of the Army Command and General Staff College (DAFOOS) General Hossein Valivand said the university changes syllabus of its courses based on regional developments, specially in Iraq.
"We modify the studies at DAFOOS based on the change in threats and conditions in the region," Valivand said in Tehran on Saturday.

"We are monitoring the recent developments in Iraq and bring changes to DAFOOS trainings and the syllabus based on them," he added.

Iranian officials and military commanders have always underlined the country's close watch on the developments in the region, specially in the neighboring states.

Earlier this month, Iranian Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan reiterated the Army's constant watch on the movements made by the enemies and trans-regional states in different situations.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran's Army monitors threats in land, air and sea so that if the enemy wants to take any action, it will face the firm response of the Army," Brigadier General Pourdastan told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to mark the National Army Day in Tehran.

The Iranian Ground Force commander pointed to his force's new achievements, and said, "Iran's newly made light firearm, Moharram, and optimized tanks participated in the parade in a bid to display the Ground Force's power."

Brigadier General Pourdastan also referred to the Iranian Ground Force's drone capabilities, and said, "We use the drones, mostly for reconnaissance missions, along the borders which have given the Ground Force an upper-hand" in confrontation against enemies.
