To hold a successful Security Council simulation on Ukraine, the UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Tehran, together with the International Studies Journal (ISJ) decided to have two "Model UN preparation" workshops.

The first session was held on 11 August 2014 and the second one on 28 August with the participation of 35 post graduate and graduate students of international relations and international law as well as political science from different universities across Iran.The second session was a full day programme which was held at UNIC Reference Library as well as UN conference room.
During the morning session Former Foreign Ministry Diplomat, and university professor Dr. Davoud Hermidas Bavandon gave a background briefing on what the participants should know about the Ukraine crisis. He also answered many questions.

The afternoon session started with briefings of a University of Toronto student, Ms. Shirin Shahidi who has the experience of participating in many MUNs and is a simulation trainer. She talked about some issues such as delegate preparation, decisions before a simulation, position papers, etc.During this one day session the members of the 15 teams had the opportunity to exchange views and to get ready for the Security Council simulation on Ukraine which will be held on 18 September 2014 at Tehran Peace Museum.
