Tehran, Sept 8, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani left Tehran on Monday for Astana, Kazakhstan, for a visit upon an official invitation from his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev.
A high-ranking political and economic delegation, including a number of cabinet ministers, are accompanying the president in his first visit to Kazakhstan since he took office in August 2013.
Rouhani and Nazarbayev are scheduled to meet in the presidential palace later in the day and the president's accompanying ministers are also due to hold talks with their Kazakh counterparts.
Iran and Kazakhstan are scheduled to sign several agreements on economic cooperation.
President Rouhani is also due to meet with prime minister and parliament speaker of Kazakhstan.
After this visit, the president is scheduled to travel to Tajikistan to attend the 14th meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization due to be held in Dushanbe.
