Mashhad, Khorassan Razavi prov, IRNA Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Saturday that in the past eight years an adverse trend had been created in Iran?s relations with world countries.
Except for the past eight years, Iran has always been following a systematic approach in its interaction with world countries, including neighboring, regional and Muslim states, Ayatollah Hashemi said in a meeting with local businessmen and industrialists in this northeastern provincial capital city.
"Those who supported Iran's former government and were involved in wasting national revenues are now sabotaging the operation of the current popular government," he said.
He stressed that in the present world, lack of relations with other countries would entail political and economic losses.
"We can have relations with all world countries, except the illegitimate Zionist regime, based on principles of dignity, prudence and wisdom," he noted.
The Ayatollah said Iran could be "a role model for other countries" relying on its rich historical, cultural and geographical potentials.
