TEHRAN Sept 17 (Shana)--Operation of the second phase of Shourijeh storage facility will allow the supply of 5,000 b/d of natural gas liquids, a project manager said.
Currently, 10 mcm/d of gas is fed into Shourijeh storage facility and it is possible to withdraw 2,500 b/d of NGL, Mohammad-Ali Ajdari said.
For this facility, a dehydration and processing refinery with a capacity of 20 mcm/d of gas has been envisaged, he said.
Shourijeh gas storage facility, which is the largest in the Middle East, was inaugurated by Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh on September 7. Located in the northeastern city of Sarakhs, the facility has the capacity to store 4.8 bcm of gas.
Gas injection into Shourijeh storage facility is aimed at keeping enough gas for supply to northern and northeastern provinces in the winter.
The facility will be fed with 10 mcm/d of gas for the delivery of 20 mcm/d to gas trunklines in the winter.
The operation of Shourijeh gas storage facility promotes Iran to the fifth rank in terms of natural gas storage in the world.
