The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) together with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), held a workshop entitled "Finding UN Information and Documentation" for some 30 graduate students of law on 16 September 2014 at Faculty of Law and Political Science, Allameh Tabataba'i University.
At the beginning of the session, Head of Faculty Dr. Hamid Reza Olumi thanked UNODC for the initiative of expanding cooperation between the UN offices and universities in Iran and organizing the workshop.

UNODC Programme Manager and Coordinator Mr. Sefatollah Taheri Shemirani outlined the usefulness of such workshops for Iranian students and researchers in order to expand their knowledge of the United Nations.The workshop was conducted by UNIC Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami-Farahani. In response to one of the faculty members who asked about the cooperation between the universities and the UN, she introduced the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) as a global initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in furthering the realization of the purposes and mandate of the Organization through activities and research in a shared culture of intellectual social responsibility.

Ms. Ghaemmaghami elaborated the essential facts about the UN, and how to find and retrieve UN information on the UN, UNIC, UN in Iran and UNODC websites.Mr. Taheri Shemirani who is a former diplomat made some comments and clarified some issues related to UN treaties. He also highlighted corruption, crime prevention and criminal justice and transnational organized crime among the issues that UNODC deals with for the participants who were the students of criminal law.
