TEHRAN Oct 12 (Shana)--Iran's Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) and Azerbaijan's State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) have agreed to study the reservoirs and environmental issues about the sea, said an official with the RIPI.
Amir Abbas Husseini, deputy head of RIPI for technology and international affairs, said environmental issues about the sea as well as increasing recovery of oil and gas from the sea's reserves are the major topics of the agreement which was signed on Saturday day.
He said, the institute can offer SOCAR its achievements in dredging polluted residues in the sea.
Furthermore, SOCAR enjoys an 80-year's background of offshore oil recovery of Caspian reserves, Hussein added. Cooperation with the Caspian Sea littoral states over petroleum issues is a top priority of the administration of "Prudence and Hope". Iran has developed thorough initiatives to expand energy ties with its neighboring states since Rouhani took office in June 2013.
Environmental issues in the Caspian sea and enhanced oil recovery from the sea were the major articles of the agreement, said the senior RIPI official.
