Rafsanjani advises west to reach settlement with Iran
Tehran, Oct 15, IRNA Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Wednesday advised the western governments not to lose the chance as Iran opted for confidence-building.
Speaking to new Swiss Ambassador to Tehran Julia Hoss, Ayatollah Rafsanjani said a bright prospect is on horizon to develop Iran-West political relations for scientific, technical and technological cooperation.
He said that settlement of disputes necessities adherence to commitments because breach of promise and the international norms will be detrimental to confidence-building.

Rafsanjani said that laying of pipelines for transfer of gas to Europe will serve as a constant investment for political security of Europe.

He criticized the current monopoly in the realm of energy supplies and said that improper nature of energy security monopoly jeopardizes the international peace and security.

"Both the producers and consumers should, while using the principle of diversity, benefit from its advantages."

Ayatollah Rafsanjani said that the western governments must appreciate the economic and political programs of government of President Hassan Rouhani.

"If western governments fail to resolve the nuclear dispute with Iran during tenure of the government which is the outcome of votes of the elite, what response they will have for the western public opinion?"

He said all Iran's words and deeds are in line with confidence-building contrary to the past so that political excuses and procrastination caused by the Israeli lobbies will deprive the western governments of the proper chance through which they can resolve the regional crises by the Iranian assistance.

Emphasizing expansion of Iran-Switzerland relations, Ayatollah Rafsanjani said the grounds for Tehran-Geneva cooperation are not less, calling for international cooperation, while having engagement on the basis of national interests.

Hoss, for his part, referred to Iran as a suitable alternative to supply energy needs of the west and said if the assessments are based on reality, the path to agreements will be open.

On mutual benefits of Iran and the West to resolve the nuclear dispute, Hoss said the agreements can set an example for the win-win settlement of the international dispute.

He said Switzerland, that is caretaker of the US interest section in Iran, is fully ready to minimize problems of the two countries.

"As the Swiss ambassador, I should acknowledge that the US collective will is based on settlement of disputes with Iran."

Praising Iran's rich natural resources and efficient manpower, Hoss said Iran can be a shining star in the international community.
