Dezful, Oct 26, IRNA Some 120 tourists from European countries on Sunday visited historical monuments in the ancient city of Shush, Khuzestan province. Head of Shush Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department Saeed Dinarvand told IRNA that the tourists coming from France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Canada paid a visit to the city's cultural heritage treasures in the form of tour groups.
During their one-day stay, they toured the Tomb of Prophet Daniel (PBUH), Shahr-e Shahi, Shush Fortress and Acropol Hill and ancient Elamite Complex, Choghanzanbil, he said.
A Japanese group also visited the ancient city of Shush today, Dinarvand said.
The ancient city of Shush dating back to over 7,000 years ago is one of the most famous old cities in the world which was once capital of Elamites.
More than 11,000 tourists from 42 countries have travelled to Shush since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March 21).
