Ilam, Nov 5, IRNA � Director General of Ilam Customs Department Khalil Heydari announced here on Wednesday resumption of export of commodities from Mehran international border to Iraq.
He further remarked that export of goods from Mehran international border to Iraq was stopped for two days simultaneous with the two mourning days of Tasua and Ashura.
Heydari who was speaking to IRNA said with the conclusion of the mourning ceremonies, export activities were resumed as before, adding that Ilam Customs Department is prepared to release export commodities to Iraq.

Therefore, he added, tradesmen could take the necessary steps for the export of their goods to Iraq from Mehran border point.

The Province of Ilam has 430 km joint borders with Iraq and about 500 trucks loaded with different commodities leave Mehran international border for Iraq on daily basis.

Iran exported $918.868 million worth of commodities through two other border points of Parviz Khan and Khosravi in Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah Province, to Iraq in the first half of the current year.

The weight of the commodities exported to Iraq in the said period through these two border points amounted to 2.422 million tons.

Cement, cake and biscuits, water cooler, fresh tomato and tomato paste, watermelon, yogurt, construction materials, fruits and vegetables have been major Iranian export commodities to Iraq.

Parviz Khan is the main center for the export of Iranian non-oil products to Iraq and annually about 52% of non-oil goods are exported from this border point.

Qasr-e Shirin, located in west of Kermanshah Province, has 186 km joint borders with Iraq.
