TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh plans to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan next week to confer on the widening and deepening of bilateral relations.
Nematzadeh's two-day visit to Baku will take place at the official invitation of Azeri Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev.

The Iranian minister is to hold several meetings with Senior Azeri officials to pave ground for the further development of Tehran-Baku cooperation.

On Thursday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev in a joint statement underscored the necessity for activating the two countries' Joint Economic Commission.

In a joint statement issued at the end of President Rouhani's visit to Baku, the two countries called for the expansion of all-out cooperation, and underlined the need for activation of joint economic commission to help further boost economic and trade cooperation.

Based on the statement, Presidents Rouhani and Aliyev discussed avenues to bolster bilateral ties as well as the ongoing developments in the region and around the world.

President Rouhani, heading a delegation, traveled to Baku last Wednesday at the invitation of Aliyev.

President Rouhani was accompanied by his Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian, his Special Aide Hossein Fereydoun, and ministers of oil, foreign affairs, roads, communications and information technology and economy as well as governor of the Central Bank of Iran during his two-day stay in Azerbaijan.

During the visit, the two sides signed 5 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on cooperation on different economic and industrial fields.
