Tehran, Dec 4, IRNA Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani left here for Islamabad Thursday morning to review issues of mutual interest with senior Pakistan officials.
During his two-day stay, which is taking place upon the official invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, he is to confer with the country's president, parliament speaker and leaders of political factions in the parliament.
The visit is aimed at promoting parliamentarian interactions between the two countries and enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Prior to his departure, the speaker told reporters at the airport that Pakistan, as a friendly neighbor, shares several commonalties with Iran in political, economic and cultural areas.
He said the two sides will discuss expansion of parliamentarian and economic cooperation, exchange of delegations, cooperation in international bodies, need for exchanging views on regional developments and the issue of terrorism.
