Zarif reiterates democratic solution to Syrian crisis
Tehran, Dec 8, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday once again underlined that the Syrian crisis has to be solved through democratic means.
In a meeting in Tehran with his Syrian counterpart Walid Moallem, Zarif noted that Iran will stand by the Syrian government and nation.
Takfiri and other extremist groups are common enemies of Iran and Syria which pose a threat to the entire world, Zarif said.

He made clear that Daesh terrorist groups have attempted to tarnish the global image of Islam.

The foreign minister condemned an Israeli air strike on the Syrian territory on Saturday as the violation of the country's sovereignty and a sign of coordination between the Zionist regime and Takfiri terrorists.

The Syrian foreign minister, for his part, appreciated the Iranian nation and government for their support to thr Syrian government and nation, particularly that of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Al-Moallem, said that Iran has spared no effort to support the resistance of Syrian nation to the Israeli-backed terrorism.

Moallem voiced suspicion over the objectives of the so-called anti-terrorism coalition and said the coalition led by the US seeks to revive the dominance of the United States over Iraq and Syria, instead of trying to destroy Daesh terrorist group.

If there were any determination to fight the evil phenomenon, at least the terrorists must be prevented from entering Syria and that financial support and weapons must not be allowed to be dispatched for them from outside the borders, Moallem said.
