Iran unveils latest achievements in air defense

TEHRAN, Dec. 08 (MNA) An exhibition of Irans air defense latest achievements in drone and radar systems opened today at Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base.
Brig. Gen.Farzad Esmaeili, commander ofIran Air Defense Force (AKA Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base) told Mehr News that Irans air defense provided 360- degree air threat coverage, and therefore a solid defense strategy must be predicted layer by layer.

A layer-by-layer air defense is most effective; that is, if the first layer fails, the other layers down to highly sensitive centers and nuclear facilities will have the chance to cover previous layers and retaliate against any kind of threats, he stated.

He also noted that the range of Irans radars had been significantly improved and they now use two or three different frequencies on various waves. Even if the enemy could attack all of our frequencies in an electronic warfare, they would not yet be able to fly over this area or conduct any operations there, he added.

Esmaeili stressed that the missiles and radars currently in use by Irans air defense were all indegenously manufactured; our missile defense systems must have certain characteristics such as a long range, high endurance during electronic warfare, and a large number of frequencies so that they could focus on more targets.

He underscored that all of Irans air defense systems, first and foremost, sought to maintain a peaceful situation with other countries; however, "in case of an offensive against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the air defense will not hesitate to counter the threat," empahsized the commander.

Irans recent achievements in manufacturing drone, missile, surveillance, and radar systems, as well as a 35mm anti-aircraft gun were unveiled at an exhibition attended by members of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee members on December 8.
