Islamabad bent on enhancing trade with Tehran

TEHRAN Dec 10 (Shana)--Iran's minister of economy said Iran and Pakistan are set on increasing business cooperation.
Ali Tayyebnia, upon his arrival to Tehran following an Islamabad visit, said the two countries are determined to complete the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline as soon as possible.
He pointed to the low level of trade between the two Asian neighbors, and underlined their willingness to increase it to at least 20% year-on-year.
Tayyebnia said the Pakistani side of the pipeline, especially Pakistani Prime Minister Navaz Sharif, has voiced its willingness to complete the pipeline.
Tayyebnia went to Islamabad at the head of high-ranking economic delegation to attend the 19th Iran-Pakistan Business Council. During their stay, the Iranian delegation met with several Pakistani officials including Pakistani Prime Minister Navaz Sharif.
A 1600-km pipeline is envisaged to transfer Iran's natural gas to Pakistan. Iran has almost finished its 900-km section of the project.
However, Pakistan as the recipient of Iran's gas, has not made any serious progress to fulfill its commitments as to finishing its section of the pipeline.
