TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Health Minister Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi and his Sudanese counterpart Bahar Idris Abu Garda inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation.
The MoU which was endorsed in Tehran on Wednesday calls for cooperation in pharmaceuticals and making capacity in health sector.
It also underlines research, specialized medical education and exchange of information, experience and expertise.
Iran is an observing member of the African Union (AU) and has shown an active presence in previous AU summit meetings.
The country is considered as one of the AU's strategic partners along with India, Japan, China, several South American states and Turkey, while Tehran is also believed to be prioritizing promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states.
Abu Girda said on Monday said Iran's medical achievements and high-quality products have persuaded his ministry to meet the country's demands with Iranian medicines.
In a meeting with Head of Iran's Food and Drug Organization Rasoul Dinarvand in Tehran, the Sudanese minister expressed his willingness to sign contracts with Iran to import pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
