Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that culture of sacrifice and martyrdom is the core stone of Iran's power.

He made the remarks in a meeting with war veterans from different departments of the government.


Martyrdom is of high status at the foreign ministry and some 40 percent of the staff members are war veterans, he said.

After triumph of the Islamic Revolution, the arrogant powers got united against Iran and this is a rare event in the international community after the world war II that the global powers put aside differences and got united against a country, he said.

He deplored the fact that the five permenent members of the United Nations Security Council stood against Iran in the course of eight years of the US-backed Iraqi-imposed war 1980-1988.
