Tehran, Dec 19, IRNA Vice-President and Head of Department of Environment Massoumeh Ebtekar underlined the need for the further cooperation among member-states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to remove the environmental challenges facing the regional countries.
'The conditions of the western Asia, specially the ECO member-states is harbinger of a dry and warm future which needs a boost in closer and intensive cooperation if the regional countries,' Ebtekar said.
Ebtekar, heading a delegation, arrived here on Wednesday to attend the ECO Ministerial Meeting on Environment.
During the day-long meeting, the ministers will study and ratify the draft resolution of the two-day ECO expert-level gathering which was wrapped up on December 16.
ECO is an intergovernmental organization involving seven Asian and three Eurasian nations, part of the South-Central Asian Union.
The 10 members of ECO include Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
