TEHRAN Dec 21 (Shana)--Abadan Refinery will supply the southwestern oil-rich city of Ahvaz with euro-4 gasoline once the refinery's phase 3 is finalized, a deputy petroleum minister said.
Abbas Kazemi, who is also head of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), said the phase is in its pre-startup stage and will be fully operational by February 2015.
Phase 3 of Abadan Refinery has various units including isomerization, acid recovery unit, sulfur production unit, gas sweetening unit, propylene purification unit, wastewater treatment unit and utility units. The refinery's gasoline production will increase from 10.1ml/d to 12.5 ml/d.
Abadan Oil Refinery is undergoing development to increase its euro-4 and euro-5 gasoil and gasoline. The development project will raise regular gasoline production from 60,000 to 81,000 b/d, kerosene from 18,000 to 45,000 b/d and premium gasoline to 20,000 b/d. China is financing the project and engineering activities for the project are under way in China by National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company (NIOEC).
With the development of Abadan refinery, Iran will see its gasoline production rise by 6.2 ml, gasoil by 15.5 ml, fuel oil by 7.1 ml, kerosene by 3.9 ml and liquefied gas by 1.5 ml.
