Iranian, Emirati diplomats hold consular meeting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) � Deputy foreign ministers from Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday discussed a range of consular affairs in an annual meeting, held in the Emirati capital of Abu Dhabi.
Iran�s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates' Affairs Hassan Qashqavi and Emirati Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman co-chaired the 9th meeting of Iran-UAE Joint Consular Cooperation Commission.

The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the conclusion of the meeting.

The 17-clause document includes measures to simplify visa formalities, settle the residence problems of the two countries� nationals, enhance judicial ties on anti-narcotics and cooperation between the coast guards.

The meeting, held at the UAE Foreign Ministry, was also attended by representatives from Iran�s Judiciary, the International Police (Interpol), Iran�s Border Police and the Red Crescent Society.
