Tehran, Jan 3, IRNA - The 12th meeting of Iran-Tunisia Economic and Trade Commission concluded with the signing of eight agreements.
Iranian Industries, Mines and Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh and Tunisian Commerce and Handicrafts Minister Nejla Moalla Harrouche signed eight agreements in the fields of banking, industries and mines, water, oil, gas, petrochemicals, sanitation and agriculture, according to Saturday's edition of 'Iran Daily'.
Nematzadeh also said Iran and Tunisia have numerous cultural, historical and religious commonalities that pave the way for increasing trade transactions.
Speaking after the conclusion of agreements in the meeting, Nematzadeh said, It is time for both countries executive authorities to support the private sector to have more participation in economic fields.
Nematzadeh added that these agreements indicate the willingness of both sides to increase economic transactions.
Valiollah Afkhami-Rad, the head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, presented a report on all agreements.
He added that a memorandum of understanding was also signed for increasing cooperation in the fields of investment, economic and technical issues, customs, handicrafts and establishment of a joint investment fund.
Afkhami-Rad noted that two agreements were signed to design and establish a power plant and build a tractor assembly factory in Tunisia.
Harrouche said the meeting was a turning point for both countries, as the legal framework to continue cooperation was prepared during the meeting.
The 12th meeting of Iran-Tunisia Economic and Trade Commission was held from December 29-31.
