Iran, Afghanistan discuss expansion of energy cooperation
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian and Afghan officials called for enhancement of all-out ties, specially in the energy sector.
In a meeting between Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International and Trade Amirhossein Zamaninia and Afghan National Security Adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar in Tehran on Tuesday, the two sided stressed that expansion of bilateral economic cooperation will pave the ground for restoration of security in the region.

"Iran is ready to work with Afghanistan in different energy sectors, including boosting petrochemicals exports to the country," Zamaninia said.

"Iran-Afghanistan cooperation on energy can improve return of stability and security to Afghanistan."

"There will be more negotiations between Iranian and Afghan oil officials to increase energy exchanges between the two sides," he said, adding that Iran is ready to export more diesel fuel to Afghanistan if needed.

Iran is one of the most important donors to Afghanistan, which has kept its promises to help to the reconstruction of the war-ravaged country.

Iran has built several roads, power transmission lines, border stations and many other infrastructure projects to better link the two nations.

Iran has also contributed more than $50mln annually to Afghan anti-narcotics efforts during the last several years.
