Oil-free economy, an unrealized dream

TEHRAN Jan 14(Shana)--The head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce has said that Iran has so far failed to realize its dream for an economy independent of oil revenues.
For years, there has been question of implementing oil-free economy in the country, but we have so far failed to reach this important objective, Yahya Al-e Eshaq said.
He said that the current oil price fall in world markets is naturally not positive, adding that market conditions have given rise to the present circumstances.
Al-e Eshaq said the low oil prices can encourage Iran to reduce its annual budgets dependence on petrodollars.
He called on Petroleum Ministry and other state organs to work together to spare the country any harm from oil price slide.
