Police commander: Western backing pushing forward militancy in Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Police Chief Brigadier General Esmayeel Ahmadi Moqaddam lashed out the western powers for providing financial and logistical supports for the terrorists in Syria.
"The incidents of the recent years in Syria have all happened due to the foreign dollars as well as the West's intelligence and security backing," General Ahmadi Moqaddam told reporters in Tehran on Wednesday.

He reiterated that the stances taken by the axis of the Islamic resistance, the Syrian government, Hezbollah and Iran disclosed that the militants are not looking for democracy, but are only terrorists.

General Ahmadi Moqaddam pointed to the recent Israeli terrorist attack on the Golan Heights in Syria that killed six members of Hezbollah and an Iranian General, and said, "The Zionist regime attacked Lebanon in 1982 on the assumption that it could scare that country, but we saw that move resulted in the birth of Hezbollah."

He said now the Hezbollah movement has to fight in multiple fronts; one against the Takfiri terrorists of the Al-Nusra Front and the other one with the Israeli soldiers.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani lashed out at certain regional countries for their support for the ISIL terrorist group, saying that they are following an unwise policy.

"The support extended to the terrorist groups by certain regional states is political imprudence and lack of foresight," Rafsanjani said in a meeting with Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq Ammar al-Hakim in Tehran.

He underlined that even if the terrorists manage to control some regions at gun point, they will not be able to rule people since they know nothing but killing, looting and bullying.

Rafsanjani warned the Shiite and Sunni leaders to keep vigilant not to provide the enemies of Islam with an opportunity to stir sectarian strife in the Muslim states, adding that the result of such wars will be nothing but strengthening the terrorist groups.

He also cautioned that establishment of military bases by the enemies indicates their plots to remain in the Muslim territories for a long time.
