Israels president turns down invitation to meet with Obama
Israeli President reportedly declined the invitation of the White House to meet with US President Barack Obama.


MOSCOW, January 26 (Sputnik) Israeli President Reuven Rivlin declined the invitation ofthe White House tomeet withUS PresidentBarack Obamaduringhis upcoming visit tothe United States, Haaretz reported Monday.

According tothe newspaper, the reason behindthe refusal was the difficulties incoordinating the schedules ofthe two presidents.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also does not plan tomeet Obama duringhis visit totheUnited Statesinearly March. Earlier White House National Security Council Spokesperson Bernadette Meehan said that US President Barack Obama will not meet withIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he comes toWashington, DC due tothe proximity ofthe visit toIsraeli elections.

The main purpose ofthe visit will be Netanyahu's speech beforethe members ofCongress onthe issue ofIran's nuclear threat.
